What is al maqam mosque?

Al Maqam Mosque is located in the city of Medina in Saudi Arabia. It is also known as the Mosque of Taif. The mosque was built on the site where the Prophet Muhammad performed the farewell pilgrimage in the 10th year of the Islamic calendar.

The mosque was built in the traditional Islamic architectural style with a large courtyard and a central prayer hall. The prayer hall has a capacity of approximately 2,000 worshippers and is adorned with beautiful calligraphy and geometric patterns.

The mosque is also home to the tomb of Abdullah ibn Abbas, a companion of the Prophet Muhammad and a respected Islamic scholar. The tomb is located in a separate room which is accessible from the mosque's courtyard.

Al Maqam mosque has undergone several renovations and expansions over the years, the most recent of which was completed in 2013. The mosque now includes modern amenities such as air conditioning, lighting, and sound systems.

The mosque is open to all Muslims for daily prayers and is especially busy during the Hajj and Umrah seasons when millions of pilgrims visit Medina to pay their respects to the Prophet Muhammad and his companions.
